New World Youth Shot Put best by Croatian Premeru

Marin Premeru, double World Youth Shot Put silver medallist in Ostrava, registered a new World best for his category on Saturday at the Croatian Club League event.

His 22.72m throw with a 5kg Shot, marked a 62cm improvement on the current leading throw of 22.10 by China's Like Wang (in Huizhou on July 22, 2006). Premeru was also the Shot Put winner and Discus silver medallist at the European Olympic Youth Festival in Belgrade this year, he is really benefiting from the experience of his 69-year-old coach, the World Master's record holder (20.77m, 1983), Ivan Ivancic.

Another Croatian, Edis Elkasevic, has held the 21.96m World Junior record with a 6kg shot since 2002. Apart of his two silver medals from Ostrava Premeru also won the European Olympic Youth Festival in Belgrade this year in shot put and got silver in discus.
