Hoffa uncorks another massive put in Ireland

USA’s World Indoor champion Reese Hoffa produced his twelfth consecutive 21m competition of the year thanks to another massive effort to win the Area Permit meeting in Cork, Ireland, yesterday (Sat 30).
Hoffa’s 21.47m winning put on his penultimate attempt was the highlight of the 56th Cork City Sports meeting. The 29-year-old who has a personal best outdoors of 21.96 (22.11m indoors) from when coming second at the 2006 US champs, was in Cork having recently won this year’s US title meet (21.47m – 23 June), and having taken a 21.77 victory at the IAAF World Athletics Tour meeting in Ostrava, midweek (27 June). The World Indoor champion’s series yesterday was 20.95, X, X, 20.90, 21.47, X.

Olympic silver medallist Nadine Kleinert of Germany won the women’s contest with a put of 18.80m.
