Report after trainingcamp
18. May 07
The trainingcamp for our group is over in San Diego.
It was one of the best camp ever I have been associated with.
GERD KANTER, Estonia threw his second best ever in a meet during the camp, 72.02m in Salinas that is the leading throw in the world this year.
During the trainingcamp we did five other tests on throwing far and the results were:
70.80m, 70.59m, 71.30m, 70.49m, 70.55m.
Gerd did as well many personal records in the weightroom, including:
Bench Press: 1x209kg, 3x190kg
Back Squats: 3x260kg
Front Squats: 1x230kg
Power Clean: 1x172.5kg, 2x170kg, 3x165kg
The situation with Gerd is better than it has ever been. He has a big chance to have his best season ever.
CHRISTINA SCHERWIN, Denmark worked very hard in the weightroom and did some good personal records:
Power Clean: 1x90kg
Jerk Back: 1x90kg
Bench Press: 1x75kg
Then Christina did her best this year in Back Squats 3x112.5kg and 2x115kg.
She kept her throwing under control and looks very promising and has a lot of capacity.
Very good for Chrstina after a tough winter with some injuries. I do not see any problems more, now it is just to use the size and power for throwing farther than before.
OMAR EL GHZALY, Egypt threw a new National record during the camp 66.10m in Salinas.
Omar concentrated on technique during this camp and it worked out really well.
He developed a lot and did a great job. Omar did some good work in the weightroom as well and did good Back Squats on 3x220kg that is a big improvement for him. The guy is a monster in the Bench Press and did the same weigt there 3x220kg easy.
This was a very good camp for Omar. His next step is to get into the international circuit of meets.
KIM CHRISTENSEN, Denmark had the same goal during this camp as Omar to develop technically. Kim did a great job on that and had two meets where he threw over his personal best ouddors. First 18.80m in San Diego and then 19.01m in Los Angeles. Kim threw also many times during the camp over 19m in practice, 19.68m the farthest. The big 20m is just around the corner for Kim if he keeps working as he did during the camp.
Kim did also the big 200k in the Bench Press during the camp with a pad. Then he worked hard in the weightroom, but we kept him down a little to be able to throw well and take care of his knees that have been bothering him.
Best camp for Kim and he should have a good season this summer.
RAIGO TOOMPUU, Estonia did very well during this camp. Big PR in Shot in L.A. at the end of the camp 19.66m. 4cm away from the WC qualifying mark. Then huge work in the weightroom:
Power Clean: 3x165kg
Push Press: 3x155kg
Bench Press: 3x180kg
Back Squats: 3x247.5kg
Front Squats: 3x206.5kg
Snatch: 3x115kg
Very good and promising for Raigo, 19.70m should be the next goal.
NICK PETERSEN, Denmark threw a PR in the Shot 17.37m during the camp and did his second best Discus meet ever also by throwing 51.52m.
Nick did some personal records in the weightroom every day:
Snatch: 1x102.5kg
Clean: 1x130kg
Jerk: 1x135kg
Push Press: 1x130kg
Bench Press: 3x145kg
Back Squats: 3x195kg
Deadlift: 3x240kg
Great camp for Nick and 18m is very realistic for him this year.
LARS MÖLLER LAURTSEN, Denmark did really well with his coach Knud Andersen.
He was little down in the throwing part as he has never trained as hard before. Lars is going through some serious changes in his training and hopefully it is going to work for him.
Lars is getting stronger and did 3x125kg in Front squats and 3x140kg in Back Squats.
Then he did great in Power Clean and Push Press and is really on the right way to throw far, it is not the question about if, just when.
The coaching staff, Knud Andersen, Mark Fletcher, Jesper Nielsen and the the greatest Fysio Indrek Tustit did all a great job during this camp and I thank them all for their cooperation.
