European Cup 2nd League, Group A Event Preview 20. June 08

World Discus Champion and current World leader Gerd Kanter will headline for the host nation in what is expected to be an action-packed European Cup in Tallinn (EST).

Estonia’s gentle giant has suffered a few narrow defeats in the past weeks, but when it comes to defending his country's honour, that throwing arm should be back in full swing.

Danish Olympic Shot Put medallist Joachim Olsen is another big name for the Tallin throws field. In his second outing of the season, Olsen will be looking to break the 20m mark for the first time this year.

On the track, Bulgaria's Desislav Gunev is hotly tipped to take the 100m title following his recent 10.27 best time in Sofia. In the longer sprint distance, Ireland's European Indoor Champion David Gillick will start as the race favourite, and European medallist David Fiegen from Luxembourg is expected to put up a tough fight in the 800m.

Bulgarian Pole Vaulter Spas Bukhalov, Danish Long Jump record holder Morten Jensen, and Latvian Javelin thrower Ainars Kovals are the top men going into the technical events, while in the women's field, Danish World Championships finalist Christina Scherwin will make her season's debut in the Javelin and take her turn in the Shot Put.

Norway are looking strong in the women's Sprint events, with European Junior 100m Champion Ezinne Okparaebo and Norwegian Hurdles record holder Christina Vukicevic ready to take to the blocks.

While in the Jumps, Latvia's former European U23 Long Jump bronze medallist Ineta Radevica is likely to be a top performer.
